As candidates for mayor of Nashville debate the future of soccer in Nashville and funding of a soccer stadium they should pay attention to today’s great news! Nashville (The Titans Nissan Stadium) has been named one of 13 U.S. cities that will host matches in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. CONCACAF is the governing body – Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football – soccer. The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the championship event to determine the best national team from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The tournament takes place every two years. Nashville most recently hosted the Gold Cup in 2017, when Team USA played against Panama in a 1-1 draw and Martinique beat Nicaragua 2-0.
